'The Ellington Kid' is a short film from 2012, directed by Dan Sully. Dan Sully takes the audience into a kebab shop where an urban legend is told. At the end of the film, this urban legend becomes the punchline of the narrators joke. This, and flash backing back to the incident told is effective as it makes the audience grip to the story.  Multiple shots are used, within the flash backs, in order to create shifts in power. The narration helps to install this shift in power. Through the use of cinematography and editing, tension and energy greatly increases leading the audience to think a fight is about happen. This scene is cooled off by the punchline joke from the narrator. This helps give a light touch to quite a dark, social realist film.
